Neighbors

So last night I let my puppy outside to go potty... and the old neighbor lady downstairs gives her a treat every time she's out there. So... Cali went straight to her door, and waited for her to come out! I laughed at her, and sure enough, the old lady (whose name is Marie) had a handful of treats for her.

We got into a discussion, and she's so awesome! She's a sweetie, and I admire her. I look up to her as a grandma figure. She's got a bad hip though, so she has a hard time going out and doing her laundry and grocery shopping. I told her that I work at a grocery store, and I wouldn't mind shopping for her when she needs something, and that grocery store is right next door to a laundromat, so I wouldn't mind doing her laundry when I do mine either. She was so happy! It was pretty cute.

On the other hand, my upstairs neighbor is a drunk creep! He's an older guy that always sits in his RUNNING car drinking beer in the parking lot, and whenever I go outside, he stares at me the whole time! It's really creepy... He's gotta be 50, give or take a few years. He has this beautiful black lab, and I feel sorry for the poor thing! It's a big dog, and he NEVER gets to go outside! I hear the dog running across the apartment above me all the time, and it's really annoying at night when I'm trying to sleep. (We're talking midnight or later here...)

So... question for you... how do you get along with your neighbors? Your roommates? Don't even get me started on roommates... I'll save that story for another entry!

The Cabin

I'm going to my family cabin this weekend for MEA. It has been a tradition for the last 10 years, and very convenient too! It is always the weekend before my birthday, so every year we have a party at the cabin. My grandma always makes me whatever meal I request, which is usually tacos. She also makes me my cake, which this year, I requested a pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream. Sounds yummy to me! I am bringing one of my roommates, Kris, and we are both bringing our kittens to the cabin too... our kitties are about 3 months old or so... and very cute! Mine's name is Jasmine, and Kris's kitten is Mishka, or Missy for short. I'm also bringing my puppy, Cali. She is a golden retriever / yellow lab, and she is a rambunctious 6 month old puppy! Yes, I do live in a zoo. In addition to my puppy and our 2 kittens, I also have a 6 year old cat, a rat, 3 mice, 2 parakeets, and a fish. :-) Can you tell that I love animals?

Have a good weekend everyone!

A lil bit of everything

Hey All!

It's been a while since I've written! I was in California in the beginning of this month, and that is why I was not at the Community Day activity. It was for a Women in Computing conference, and was really awesome!

I just got done moving from one apartment to a new apartment that is a little bigger, and I love it! My room is a little smaller, and the house is packed full of boxes, but what else can you expect when you just move? So I'll be going through boxes for the next week or longer...

Oh, and one more thing... some EXCITING news! My birthday is in a week! :-)

Favorite Book

My favorite book this summer was The Crystal Cave, which was about Merlin the magician. It is the first of four books in the King Arthur book set. My favorite movie was Invincible, a football one about the Philadelphia Eagles. If you haven't seen it, you definatly should!
